His Excellency, H.H. Raunaq Yar Khan, the 9th Nizam of the Asif Jahi Dynasty, participated in an enriching and interactive program titled “Know Your History and Nizam,” hosted by the AAROHAN Cultural Society.
The event served as an engaging platform for dialogue, bringing together participants eager to explore the significant contributions of women in Indian history. Attendees and speakers alike exchanged valuable insights, with a particular emphasis on the meritocratic and gender-neutral principles upheld during the reign of the Asif Jahi dynasty. This critical aspect of the Nizam’s rule was presented with compelling data, shedding light on the commendable role of women throughout history.
Notably, the program was organized by the remarkable women of AAROHAN, a Bengali-centric sociocultural and philanthropic organization based in Kokapet, Hyderabad. Their commitment to fostering community engagement was evident throughout the event. Attendees were also treated to a beautiful presentation of Gazal and Shayari by the women’s team of AAROHAN Cultural Society, adding an artistic flair to the occasion.
Members of the AAROHAN team, including Indranil Chaudhury, Saswata Ray, Monojit Gupta, Panchali Chaudhury, Dalia Ray, Ruma Sengupta, Tapasree Mudsuddy, Payal Sarkar, Tanima Boral, and Arkapriya Chakraborty, expressed their gratitude for the enlightening experience, highlighting the wealth of women-centric knowledge about the Nizam’s rule that many of them were previously unaware of.
The presence of the Nizam Nawab added a distinguished touch to the gathering. Though he spoke sparingly, his delight at the engaged and enthusiastic audience was palpable. “The music was fabulous,” he remarked, reflecting on the vibrant atmosphere cultivated by the event.
This initiative reinforces the AAROHAN Cultural Society’s dedication to celebrating and educating the community about the significant roles women have played throughout Indian heritage, emphasizing the ongoing relevance of these historical narratives in today’s society.
