The title of Nizam IX will not be bestowed upon Azmat Jah, as titles were abolished by the Indian government in 1971. Azmat Jha, the son of Mukarram Jah’s first wife Princess Esra, was designated as his heir apparent. Mukarram Jah, the Eighth Nizam of Hyderabad, who recently passed away in Istanbul and was interred at Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad, made this announcement.
Following his father’s mourning period in February, Azmat Jah will be formally installed as the new Nizam in a solemn coronation at Chowmahalla Palace. Despite not bearing the official title, Jah will assume responsibility for the Mukarram Jah Trust and oversee the Nizam’s possessions in Hyderabad and India.
