The 9th Nizam of the Asaf Jahi Dynasty, H.E. Nawab Raunaq Yar Khan, graced the “Urs- E- Shareef of Baghdadi Sahebaan” at Darga in Hyderabad on a Sunday evening. This marked his first official religious attendance at the 101st “Urs- E- Shareef of Baghdadi Sahebaan,” commemorating the death centenary of Hazrat Peer Syed Abdur Rahman, also known as Badey Baghdadi, Qibla RA.
The royal Nizam family, including the esteemed Asaf Jah VI, Highness Mir Mahboob Ali Khan, have historically sought the blessings of Hazrat, even inviting him to inaugurate ceremonies. Mir Mahboob Ali Khan would welcome Hazrat with great reverence, ensuring that the carpet spread for his arrival was immediately taken and stored respectfully to prevent it from being tread upon by others.
Janab Sayed Mahmood Husaini Qadri Al Rafai, Sadat Peer Baghdadi, the grandson and sajjada nashin of Qitte Salheen, expressed his delight and honor in hosting H.E. Nawab Raunaq Yar Khan, the great-grandson of Mir Mahboob Ali Khan and the 9th Nizam head of the Asaf Jahi dynasty, at the 101st Urs event.
H.E. Nawab Raunaq Yar Khan reciprocated the sentiment, stating that it was an honor and pleasure to be received by Pir Baghdadi, continuing the tradition established by his great-grandfather, the 6th Nizam. This marked the 9th Head of the Asaf Jah family’s first visit to further strengthen the familial bonds.
Mr. Zubair Khan, an associate of Pir, highlighted the significance of H.E. Nawab Raunaq Yar Khan’s visit as his first religious outing and attendance at a place of faith after being appointed the 9th Nizam of the Dynasty. This visit followed his anointment at the “Qaja ka Chilla” before his formal coronation by a majority of his royal family at a religious ceremony.
Badey Pir Baghdadi, a revered figure, memorized the Quran at the tender age of nine and went on to master theology and Islamic Jurisprudence. At age 17, he earned the turban, a symbol of high learning. Beyond his lineage as a progeny of the prophet, his asceticism and piety gained widespread recognition.
Hazrat Badey Baghdadi departed from this mortal world on the 10th Muharram, year 1344 Hijira, at the age of 63. He was laid to rest at ‘Qita Saliheen’ in Nampally, Hyderabad. Since then, his “Urs” (annual death anniversary) has been held from the 10th to 12th Muharram, attracting hordes of dignitaries seeking blessings from Peer Sadat Bagdadi.
