The Majlis-e-Sahebzadagan Society, a distinguished assembly of over 4,500 direct descendants of the Nizam and Nobles of Nizam, declared on Friday their decision to bestow the title of the ninth Nizam of Hyderabad upon ‘H.E. Nawab Raunaq Yar Khan’, a descendant of the Asaf Jahi family, instead of Prince Azmet Jah. This decision was prompted by the society’s discontent with Prince Azmet Jah’s inability to fulfill his responsibilities towards the extended Royal family, his prolonged absence from Hyderabad, and his lack of communication with family members.
In a statement released to the media, the society announced, “The Majlis-e-Shabzadegan Society (comprising over 4,500 Shabzada & Shabzadi (Direct Descendants of Nizam) and Umra (Nobles of Nizam) have reached a consensus to choose H.E. Nawab Raunaq Yar Khan as the IXth Nizam of Hyderabad’s Asaf Jahi Dynasty.” A grand coronation ceremony is planned, where the extended Royal family and the citizens of Hyderabad will be invited to celebrate the occasion. H.E. Nawab Raunaq Yar Khan, a passionate advocate for Hyderabad’s heritage, is a prominent figure in the Asaf Jahi Dynasty, known for his vocal support of the city’s rich tehzeeb and legacy.
Sahebzada Mohd Moizuddin Khan, General Secretary of the Majlis-e-Shabzadegan Society, explained the choice of H.E. Nawab Raunaq Yar Khan, stating, “The reason for choosing H.E. Nawab Raunaq Yar Khan is his strong connection to Hyderabad and his recognition as one of the most prominent faces of the Asaf Jahi Dynasty in Hyderabad.”
