H.E. Nawab Raunaq Yar Khan, the esteemed ninth head of the illustrious Asaf Jahi Dynasty, honored the memory of his illustrious ancestor, Mir Osman Ali Khan, the last Nizam of Hyderabad, by paying floral tributes on the 57th anniversary of his death.
The touching ceremony took place at the Nizam’s mausoleum, Masjid-e-Judi, located in the heart of King Koti near Nazri Bagh Palace. This revered masjid houses the graves of the last Nizam’s family members. H.E. Nawab Raunaq Yar Khan was accompanied by Nawab Ameer Ali Jah, the grandson of the seventh Nizam, who, with the support of the majority of the seventh Nizam’s family, bestowed the honor upon him.
This marked H.E. Nawab Raunaq Yar Khan’s first visit to Mir Osman Ali Khan’s tomb since his designation as the ninth Nizam.
Addressing the media, Nawab Ameer Ali Jah said, “Paying respects to our grandfather, Mir Osman Ali Khan, was an honor. On behalf of my family, the direct descendants of the seventh Nizam, we have come to Masjid e’ Juri/Judi to pay our respects to our dynamic and progressive world-renowned secular grandfather who contributed immensely to the development of the state of Hyderabad, making it a developed city with a thriving capital.”
Praising the new designate, Jah added, “H.E. Nawab Raunaq Yar Khan has already demonstrated his commitment to preserving the legacy of the Asaf Jahi family through his interfaith activities, spanning almost 50 years in Delhi and Hyderabad. We have brought him here to visit the grave of his great grandfather. We hope that H.E. Nawab Raunaq Yar Khan receives the blessings of our departed ancestors, along with our best wishes.”
