His Holiness Bhakti Raghava Swami Maharaja, a Canadian-born renowned ISKCON Leader, expressed his hope for a resolution to the tension between India and Canada, stating, “Tension between India and Canada is only due to some misunderstandings. And I hope to see that they get sorted out very soon.”
HH Bhakti Raghava Swami Maharaja, a spiritual leader of the Hare Krishna Movement, visited Hyderabad on Friday. He was welcomed at the preschool chain, My School ITALY, founded by his disciple, Dr. Aperna Volluru.
Speaking to the media, HH Bhakti Raghava Swami Maharaja shared his perspective on Sanathan Dharma, saying, “Sanathan Dharma is a universal code of conduct. The word doesn’t have any religious connotation. I am a Roman Catholic Christian. My body is Canadian, but my soul is Indian. We need sanatan dharma. We can’t live without it.”
The spiritual leader emphasized the importance of education, stating, “Education is very important. It must be promoted with all vigor. Education is life and life is education. Hyderabad is not new to me. I keep coming to India. I must have visited India 20 times. A good part of my life I spent in India.”
Addressing the strained relationship between India and Canada, HH Bhakti Raghava Swami said, “Misunderstandings are common even in a blood relation and in a family. The recent set of events that unfolded between India and Canada is no way different. I hope that relations would be normal very soon. Both countries need each other.”
When questioned about the controversy surrounding ISKCON selling cows to butchers, Bhakti Raghava Swami refuted the allegations, stating, “There is no truth in it. Her [Maneka Gandhi’s] remarks are far from the truth. Making generalizations is very unfortunate.”
Dr. Aperna Volluru, Founder and MD of My School ITALY, expressed her admiration for HH Bhakti Raghava Swami’s teachings, saying, “Sanathan Dharma is a constitution of human beings. I am a disciple of Raghava Swami. I am impressed by his preachings and peace messages.”
The brand ambassador of the school, H.E. Raunaq Yar Khan, the 9th Nizam of the Asaf Jahi Dynasty, spoke about his commitment to fostering unity among different faiths. He said, “I was granted a Ph.D. in recognition of my work on bringing communities together as my mission.”
On this occasion, H.E. Raunaq Yar Khan and others were presented with The Bhagavad Gita and The Srimad Bhagavatam, the Vedic Scriptures.
