Nizam VIII Mukarram Jah’s Son Becomes Ninth Nizam of Hyderabad | H.E. Nawab Azmat Jah | Asaf Jahi Dynasty

Upon the passing of the eighth Nizam of Hyderabad, Mukarram Jah, his eldest son, Mir Mohammad Azmat Ali Khan Azmat Jah, was formally declared as the ninth Nizam. This announcement was made by Chowmahalla Palace, the office of the Nizams, on Saturday. Mukarram Jah, who passed away in Istanbul, Turkey, received state honours during his last rites in Hyderabad on January 18. In accordance with his late father’s desire and decree, Azmat Jah was anointed as his successor in a simple ceremony attended by Mukarram Jah’s family members. However, due to the abolition of titles by the Central government in 1971, Azmat Jah will not officially hold the title of Nizam IX.
