Hyderabad witnessed a grand celebration of Sankranthi on Tuesday, emphasizing Hindu–Muslim unity and goodwill, at Raunaq’s Estate, Jubilee Hills. The event was hosted by Raunaq Yar Khan, 9th Nizam of the Asaf Jahi Dynasty and Custodian of the Estates.
The sprawling estate was transformed into a vibrant festival setting, featuring traditional rangoli designs, a Bhogi campfire, worship of the Sun God, folk dances, Haridasu devotional songs, Gangireddhulu performances, kite flying, and Vedic peace hymns. Guests also enjoyed a grand feast of Sankranthi delicacies, including sweet pongal and other traditional dishes.
Speaking on the occasion, Raunaq Yar Khan highlighted that Sankranthi is a celebration of gratitude, abundance, and sharing. “By celebrating together across faiths, we reaffirm that unity, mutual respect, and brotherhood are the true strengths of our nation,” he said. The festivities concluded with the traditional feast, symbolizing unity through shared food, culture, and joy.
The programme was organised by JAIHO (JaiBharat Association for Integrity, Harmony & Oneness – Twin Cities Unit), founded in 2019. The organisation works nationally to promote communal harmony, national integration, and social unity, reinforcing the message that festivals like Sankranthi can bridge communities and celebrate shared cultural heritage.
